Michael Wilkerson
Associate Minister

I grew up in Lexington, KY after having spent time all over the country. I finally gave up fighting Christ the day before my senior year @ Tates Creek High School. A year later I enrolled @ Cincinnati Bible College which has since become Cincinnati Christian University. While there I played a lot of basketball and volleyball, as well as being a cheerleader my freshman year. I learned a lot from my friends and professors and they have made a lasting impact on how I view ministry.
After I left CBC, I got involved in a great campus ministry at UK called CSF. I was there for about three years and met my lovely wife Stephanie in '95 and got married in '97 after I had a fairly short stint in the Navy. We served @ Tates Brook Church as the youth ministry team and loved the experience desperately. We moved to Charlotte in '98 for my work and volunteered @ East Baptist for a couple of years while I worked at the happening place in town for students...Laser Quest. While working there, I had the freedom to do ministry from the workplace.
I then spent several years in different positions and churches trying to find my niche and developed some forever relationships that are extremely important to me. Also in this period my wife (Steph) and I had three beautiful boys Elijah, Caden, and Malachi. They are a challenge and a blessing to us but one we would never trade in, and no, we are not going to try for a girl.
I began vocationally working part-time in the ministry a couple of years ago @ Midway Baptist Church and loved my students there immensely. However, I began to feel that God was calling us into ministry full time and we prayed and sought Him in it. I came home after having looked briefly on the internet and found this little church in GA. My wife said 'Georgia, why we would want to move to Georgia? I'm not moving to Georgia.' Low and behold we had an interview and found jobs and a house...all in one weekend. God had certainly directed our steps. We faithfully prepared to move and have after about a year found a home and niche in our community here.
